Seeking Committee & Board Members

Municipal Council is seeking residents of the Municipality to sit on various advisory committees & boards:
Planning Advisory Committee (3 community members);
Sustainable Communities Advisory Committee (3 community members);
Economic Development Advisory Committee (3 community members);
Active Transportation Advisory Committee (3 community members); and
Heritage Museum Board (1 community member).

These committees will provide community-based advice to Municipal Council.  A brief description and draft terms of reference for each committee and board can be found below.

Sustainable Communities Advisory Committee
The committee provides advice to Municipal Council on initiatives to improve the sustainability of municipal operations and the community at large. It is also the custodian of the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan.

Planning Advisory Committee
This legislatively mandated committee will advise Council respecting the preparation or amendment of planning documents and respecting planning matters generally. The committee provides community-based advice regarding the development of planning policy and bylaw.

Economic Development Advisory Committee
This committee provides advice to Municipal Council concerning economic development initiatives and has specific responsibility for the Antigonish County Industrial Park.

Active Transportation Advisory Committee
This committee will provide feedback on the Municipality’s Active Transportation Plan (AT) as well as to provide recommendations on actions and strategies to move the AT Plan forward. It’s goal is to increase the number of Active Transportation opportunities available to residents of Antigonish County and surrounding area.

Antigonish Heritage Museum Board
This Board manages and operates the Antigonish Heritage Museum.
