Efficiency Nova Scotia is the independent, non-profit organization that helps Nova Scotians use energy better and save money.
Efficiency Nova Scotia offers a variety of services and aims to be a one-stop shop for energy efficiency. Services range from education and technical assistance to incentives on energy efficient products, to financial incentives for energy efficient upgrades. They also offer financing options for your home or business to make it easy and affordable to use energy better.
It’s important to us that everyone benefits from energy efficiency, regardless of income. That’s why we offer a no-charge energy assessment and home upgrades to income-qualified homeowners. If we discover that upgrades like draft-proofing and insulation will help reduce your heating and power bills, we’ll install the upgrades at absolutely no cost to you.
Home Energy Assessment
A Home Energy Assessment is available to electrically heated homes and gives you an analysis of your home’s space and water heating energy efficiency – from the attic to the basement and everything in between. For $99, one of our Certified Energy Advisors will conduct a full evaluation of your home, and provide you with customized recommendations to help you save energy and money.
Complete any of the suggested upgrades, including insulation, heating and hot water systems, and other smart upgrades within 12 months and we will help you cover the cost. Choose from either:
Low interest financing (OAC) up to $25,000 for 5 years; or
Up to $5,000 in rebates.
Older appliances use on average 15% more energy than newer models. Cashing in your old working fridge or freezer could save you over $180 a year on your power bill. We will pick up and properly recycle your old fridge or freezer and give you $30. Add in your old room air conditioner and we’ll give you an extra $10.
Limited time offer! Add a small/mini (less than 10 cuft) fridge or small/mini freezer and receive an additional $10. Offer Ends March 31st, 2016.
New Home Construction
If you’re building a new, electrically heated home, we can help you save energy and money right from the start. We will work with you and your builder to integrate energy efficiency technologies into your building plans. For $99, a Certified Energy Advisor will review your building plans and provide you with customized recommendations to improve the energy efficiency of your design. Depending on the efficiency of your new home, you could receive up to $2,000 in rebates.
