Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, Canada Antigonish County is located on the northeastern shore of mainland Nova Scotia and borders on the Northumberland Strait, St. George's Bay and the western extension of the Strait of Canso. Major road (Trans Canada Highway) and rail (Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway) corridors run directly through Antigonish County, granting easy access to and from all points in Atlantic Canada, as well as destinations and markets beyond.

Antigonish County is centrally located between Moncton NB, Halifax NS and Sydney NS, and serves as the gateway to Cape Breton Island, via the Canso Causeway. Antigonish, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, Canada
Antigonish County is conveniently located, with easy access to the major port facilities on both the island and mainland sides of the Strait of Canso, the deepest ice-free port in North America, as well as to Goldboro, Guysborough County, where the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline intersects with the subsea natural gas pipeline from the Sable Offshore Energy Project and the site of the proposed Keltic Petrochemicals complex.

Located in the heart of Antigonish County, the town of Antigonish is the primary professional, business and retail service centre for Northeastern Nova Scotia. The primary business districts are located in the Post Road/James Street area, the Downtown area, the Antigonish Mall and the Beech Hill/South River Road area. The Antigonish County Business/Light Industrial Park is located in Lower South River, on the TCH 104, just east of the intersection of the TCH 104 and Highway 316. Antigonish is home to St. Martha's Regional Hospital and St. Francis Xavier University, including the Coady International Institute, the Gerald Schwartz School of Business and Information Systems, the Centre for Applied Petroleum Sciences and the new Charles V. Keating Millennium Centre.

The communities of Antigonish County are easily accessible from the Trans-Canada Highway 104, which runs between the New Brunswick/Nova Scotia border and North Sydney (on Cape Breton Island) in Nova Scotia, via exits 30-39. You can also travel through Antigonish County via Route 4 between Pictou County (at Marshy Hope - exit 29A) and the Canso Causeway, or, by following the Sunrise Trail, one of Nova Scotia's Scenic Travelways, along the Northumberland Strait and St. George's Bay. If you are following the Marine Drive, along the eastern shore of Nova Scotia, you can travel to Antigonish County, from Guysborough County, via Route 7, Highway 316, Route 16 or Highway 344.

Ferry services between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Maine, USA are operated from North Sydney, Pictou, Digby and Yarmouth, respectively.
